DG acts as a hedge if the economy worsens, driven by middle-class consumption shifts and higher SNAP usage.
But if the economy gets worse sooner rather than later, I think it becomes a similar hedge for tough times, as Dollar General has historically been , as it gets a shift in middle-class consumption patterns, as well as a rapid increase in the use of SNAP ( food vouchers).
