How The Motley Fool’s view on $META changed

“Meta Platforms Stock: Buy or Sell?”
META is a hold; high capex and unproven AI monetization limit upside at current levels, but a drop to <22x earnings would make it a buy.

Meta's stock price saw a remarkable increase of 35% last month, thanks to the outstanding success of Muse, the AI-powered smart assistant app , which topped the list of most downloaded apps in the app store.

But does this fundamentally change the nature of the company's work? Is this stock a good investment opportunity today? I believe that about 98% of its revenue, or thereabouts, comes from digital advertising.

“Meta Stock Jumps 9% as Muse Takes Off — Who Gets Disrupted?”
Meta's recent stock rise is a short-term overreaction but justified by the market anticipating success in using free AI access to gather shopping data for ads.

As a result , Meta's stock has surged this week, adding hundreds of billions of dollars to its market value.

Meta's business model relies on advertising on its social network, but if we suddenly start shopping using an AI assistant , both business models are likely to change .

Another thing I'm thinking about is that Meta's business model doesn't necessarily mean changing the way we shop. At least, their approach to introducing the Muse app to the public so far seems to be simply a way to gather more information.
